Quick answers for getting started, changing plans, keeping memories and finding your way around Dotim.

01 / Get your bearings

Getting started

Where can I get Dotim?

Dotim is an iPhone app distributed through the App Store.

What is a timeline?

A timeline is a layer for a project, goal, trip, routine or part of everyday life. Add dated text events to give its plans a place on Dotim’s continuous time axis. Each event belongs to one timeline.

How do I create my first timeline and event?

Tap Add Timeline and choose New timeline. Select a position at Now or in the future, then use Add to enter your event text. You can customize the timeline’s name, icon and color in Details.

How do I focus on one layer?

Tap a timeline’s colored button to select it. Its events come forward while other timelines remain visible. The selected layer becomes the destination for new events. Tap its title to open Details.

02 / Plans can change

Planning & scopes

How do I reschedule a task?

Touch and hold an eligible event, then drag it vertically to its new time. Depending on the event’s position in the plan, Dotim can offer an adjustment to upcoming events. Review broader changes before approving them. You can also choose to move only that event.

Completed, canceled, archived or date-locked events cannot be rescheduled. Unpin a pinned commitment before moving it.

How do I change scope from minutes to years?

Pinch to zoom into detail or out toward a broader view. The scope control offers Now, Hour, Day, Week, Month and Year. Tap Fit to frame a selected timeline’s events. The axis Now triangle returns to the current moment without changing zoom; the global Now action opens the closest detail.

What happens when a plan is overdue?

An unresolved past plan needs review. Time passing never marks a task complete automatically. Record Done or Canceled, or reschedule an eligible unresolved event. Your history stays under your control.

Where do archived timelines go?

Finished timelines remain at their original dates on the adjacent orange Archive rail. Global Search finds active and archived events and notes. Select archived history to view it, then use Fit or open its title for Details. Archived history is read-only until you explicitly continue the timeline.

03 / Keep the useful things

Routines & attachments

How do I create and use a routine?

Open an active personal timeline’s Details and choose Save as routine. The saved routine is an independent plan. From Add Timeline, choose From My Routines to use it again, select a start, and review its placement before creating the new timeline. The intervals between events are preserved.

What can I attach to an event?

Select the event, then tap its paperclip action. You can add notes, photos, videos, short voice recordings and places. Timelines also have their own attachment library.

Photos and microphone access are requested only when needed for the feature you choose. Place search uses Apple Maps; selecting a saved place does not require permission to track your live location.

04 / Bring your plans together

Calendar connections

How do I connect a calendar?

Choose Add Timeline → From Calendar and grant Calendar access when asked. Select a calendar available on your device. Dotim creates a dedicated timeline and initially imports the upcoming month. You can adjust the Sync ahead period in its Details.

Why is my calendar read-only?

Editing access comes from the source calendar. A subscribed, shared or restricted calendar may permit viewing only. Dotim displays a Read-only badge for these sources. Supported writable calendars permit two-way schedule changes. Changing permissions in iOS or at your calendar provider can affect access.

What happens if I archive a connected calendar?

Dotim stops syncing that connection and keeps its past history in Archive. Future copies are removed from Dotim, while the original events in Calendar are left unchanged. Reconnecting or continuing an archived connection resumes that calendar’s timeline.

05 / Keep your story safe

Backup & privacy

Where is my timeline stored?

Personal timeline records and attachment files are stored on your device. Dotim does not run an account service that receives your timeline. If you choose iCloud backup, your selected backup content is stored using your own iCloud account. Connected calendars use the calendar accounts configured on your device.

Read our privacy notice.

How do iCloud backup and restore work?

Use the Backup card in a timeline’s Details. You can choose whether to include attachments and enable automatic backup. You need an available iCloud account and enough personal iCloud storage. Restore is free and merges saved records by identity instead of deleting timelines that exist only on the current device.

A backup is separate from live Calendar synchronization. Keep a backup before deleting the app or replacing your device.

Can support recover my local data?

We cannot access or recover content stored only on your device. Check for an available personal iCloud backup before reinstalling the app or deleting app data. Device and iCloud backups are controlled through your Apple account and device settings.

06 / More room when you need it

Dotim Pro

What is included for free?

You can keep up to five active timelines. Archived timelines do not use an active space. Archive a finished timeline to make room for a new one. Personal iCloud backup and restore remain free.

Is Dotim Pro a subscription?

No. Dotim Pro is an optional one-time, non-consumable purchase for unlimited active timelines. The App Store displays the price for your region. Apple handles payment and purchase verification.

How do I restore a Pro purchase?

Use Restore Purchases in Dotim’s Pro purchase presentation and make sure you are using the Apple account that made the purchase. Purchase restoration is separate from restoring timeline backups. If access still looks incorrect, contact us with your iOS and app version; do not send payment-card details.
